Yes Real Gold is used! The gold used on this mug cup is actually real gold its applied very delicately to the finished mug / cup and fired for a third time in the kiln at 772 Degree Celsius. This is why we don't recommend use in the dishwasher on these beautiful gold mugs.

Care Instructions: Mugs are dishwasher safe however we recommend hand washing using a soft cloth or sponge, mild soap, and warm water to gently wash your mug. Avoid abrasive scrubbers or harsh chemicals that can damage the glaze.
